Saoirse 
Anton

Saoirse Anton is an Irish writer, producer and performer. She is also a feminist, optimist, enthusiast, opinionated scamp and human being.

As a poet, she has performed extensively in Ireland and the UK, including appearances at First Fortnight Festival, Big Love Festival, Green Gathering, the London Irish Centre, Lost in Leith, TactileBosch, Cardiff Queer Fringe, the Clifton Street Festival, Waterstones Cardiff, Dyddiau Du & the Silurian Folklore Society, Railway Gardens, Elysium Gallery Swansea, and the Circus Village Cabaret. 

Selected poems have been published in Rise Up and Repeal, an anthology from Sad Press Poetry, and in Cardiff 75: Writings from the City, an anthology from Parthian Books. She was commissioned by NoFit State Circus to write a poem for their 2022 Clifton Street Festival, and in 2023 was Poet-in-Residence on their production, Sabotage. She has been commissioned by Studio 9 animation studio and RTÉ (Ireland’s national broadcaster) to write two short poetry films for children, An Oíche is Speisíalta (2020) and Navigating the Rough Seas (2022). She is currently busily writing preparing her debut pamphlet and album. 

As a producer and manager she has worked with Richard Chappell Dance, QWERIN, BANBHA Theatre Company, National Dance Company Wales and Dublin Dance Festival.

Alongside her work as a poet and producer, she performs and delivers workshops with the Sparklettes Hula Hoop troop, from Tafwyl to Glastonbury and Big Love to Bridgend.

 

When not doing that she can be found on her allotment or by the sea.

Mae Saoirse Anton yn berfformwraig, awdur a cynhyrchydd Gwyddelig. Mae hi hefyd yn ffeministaidd, optimistaidd, brwdfrydig, hunandybus ac yn fod dynol.

Fel bardd, mae hi wedi perfformio’n helaeth dros Iwerddon a’r Deyrnas Unedig, gan gynnwys ymddangosiad yn First Fortnight Festival, Big Love Festival, Green Gathering, the London Irish Centre, Lost in Leith, TactileBosch, Cardiff Queer Fringe, the Clifton Street Festival, Waterstones Cardiff, Dyddiau Du & the Silurian Folklore Society, Railway Gardens, Elysium Gallery Swansea, a Circus Village Cabaret. 

Mae cerddi dethol wedi eu cyhoeddi yn Rise Up and Repeal, antholeg gan y Sad Press Poetry, ac yn Cardiff 75: Writings from the City, antholeg gan Lyfrau Parthian. Mae wedi’i comisiynnu gan NoFit State Circus i ysgrifennu cerdd ar gyfer Wyl Stryd Clifton 2022, ac yn 2023 roedd hi’n fardd preswyl ar eu cynhyrchiad, Sabotage. Mae wedi’i comisiynnu gan stiwdio animeiddio Studio 9 ac RTÉ (darlledwr cenedlaethol Iwerddon) i ysgrifennu dwy ffilm gerdd fer ar gyfer plant, An Oíche is Speisíalta (2020) a Navigating the Rough Seas (2022). Ar hyn o bryd mae’n brysur yn ysgrifennu a pharatoi ar gyfer ei phamffled cyntaf ac albwm.

Fel cynhyrchydd a rheolwr mae wedi gweithio efo Richard Chappell Dance, QWERIN, Cwmni Theatr BANBHA, Cwmni Dawns Cenedlaethol Cymru a Gwyl Ddawns Dublin.

Ynghyd a’i gwaith fel bardd a cynhyrchydd, mae’n perfformio a cyflwyno gweithdai efo Sparklettes Hula Hoop troop, o Dafwyl i Glastonbury a Big Love i Ben-y-bont.
